Rock music
• Rock music is a broad genre of popular music that originated as "rock 
and roll" in the United States in the early 1950s, a style which drew 
heavily from the genres of blues, rhythm and blues, and from country 
music. Rock music also drew strongly from a number of other genres 
such as electric blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, 
classical and other musical styles.

Electronic music
• Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments, 
digital instruments and circuitry-based music technology. In general, a 
distinction can be made between sound produced using 
electromechanical means and that produced using electronics only.

Soul music
• Soul music is a popular music genre that originated in the African 
American community in the United States in the 1950s and early 
1960s. It combines elements of African-American gospel music,

music" are often used interchangeably, although the former describes

Folk music
• Folk music includes traditional folk music and the genre that evolved 
from it during the 20th-century folk revival. Some types of folk music may 
be called world music. Traditional folk music has been defined in several 
ways: as music transmitted orally, music with unknown composers, or 
music performed by custom over a long period of time. It has been 
contrasted with commercial and classical styles.

Latin music
• Latin music is a genre used by the music industry as a catch-all 
term for music that comes from Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking 
areas of the world, namely Ibero-America and the Iberian Peninsula, 
as well as music sung in either language.

Classical music
• Classical music is art music produced or rooted in the traditions of 
Western culture, including both liturgical and secular music. While a 
more precise term is also used to refer to the period from 1750 to 
1820,this article is about the broad span of time from before the 6th 
century AD to the present day, which includes the Classical period and 
various other periods.

Hip hop music
• Hip hop music, also called hip-hop or rap music is a genre of popular 
music developed in the United States by inner-city African Americans 
and Latino Americans in the Bronx borough of New York City in the 
1970s. It consists of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly 
accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted.
