WHAT IS A MIDWIFE?
Let’s first understand what is a midwife. A midwife is
a special kind of healthcare provider who helps
women during pregnancy, childbirth, and after birth.
You can think of them as pregnancy experts who help
make sure everything goes smoothly.
During pregnancy, a midwife checks on the health of
the mother and baby. They measure the mother’s
belly to see how the baby is growing and listen to the
baby’s heartbeat. They also advise on healthy eating,
exercise, and what to expect during labor.
When the baby is due, midwives are there to help.
They support the mother during labor and delivery,
making sure she’s comfortable and safe. Midwives
can also help with different birthing options, like
giving birth in a hospital, at home, or in a birthing
center.
ROLE OF A MIDWIFE
Taking care of a mother and her child during pregnancy is very important. If you take good
care during pregnancy, it will ensure the health of both you and your child. So, good prenatal
care includes regular check-ups and screenings. You can learn about any potential risks or
complications early on because of prenatal care. Now, you may wonder what role a midwife
plays in prenatal care. A midwife is also a healthcare provider. Hence, she will help you and
assist you throughout your pregnancy.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A MIDWIFE
IN PREGNANCY?
1) BEFORE DELIVERY
Before the delivery of the child, the midwife plays an important role
in the prenatal care. For mothers who are expecting a child for the
first time, this phase remains unknown and full of surprises.
2) DURING DELIVERY
As the day of delivery arrives, the role of the midwife becomes more
crucial. At this point, the mothers mostly are in a state where they
don’t understand anything. So, the midwife guides the mother with
their labor. They closely monitor the labor and give emotional
support to the mother.
3) AFTER DELIVERY
After the delivery of the child when all the surgical and medical
procedures end, the role of the midwife remains. They have to
provide emotional support to the mother and take care of the baby
for a few days as the mother has to recover.
CONCLUSION
Midwives play an important role in the journey
of a mother in bringing her child to this worth.
The whole process has a lot of things that can
affect the child and the mother. So, all these
things must be done properly. The midwife
takes care that the mother doesn’t do
anything wrong, which may complicate the
birth of the child. Also, the first few days after
the delivery require immense care of the
baby. However, since the mother also goes
through her recovery, this care may get
neglected. But when you have a midwife,
then there’s nothing to worry about.
