❖ Unpack your printer and take out the printer supplies from the product 
box.
❖ Remove all the protective tapes from the printer and make sure to 
recycle them.
❖ Pull the paper input tray entirely out from the printer and open the 
output tray cover.
❖ Fan a stack of legal plain paper and load the paper stack into the 
tray.
❖ Close the output tray cover and refix the paper input tray into the 
printer.
❖ Make sure to pull out the paper support and extend the paper 
support flap.
❖ Connect your Brother MFC-J497DW printer to an electrical outlet 
using the supplied power cord and press the Power to turn on the 
printer.
❖ Navigate to the printer's LCD panel and follow the on-screen 
prompts to set your basic preferences.
❖ Lift/open the ink cartridge access door and remove the orange 
protective tape.
❖ Shake the black ink cartridge gently and unpack it. Insert the black 
ink cartridge into the printer after removing the protective tape from 
it.
❖ Install all the supplied ink cartridges into the printer after removing the 
protective tapes from them.
❖ If you wish to add the fax function, connect the supplied telephone 
line cord to your printer and configure the fax settings.
❖ Make sure to select the correct Receive mode and set your station ID.
❖ Next, insert the supplied CD-ROM into your computer's CD/DVD 
drive and run the setup file.
❖ After completing the driver installation, verify the printer
