A solicitor once instructed a radiologist to review a brain scan in a birth injury case. Good radiologist, solid CV, years of NHS experience. Three weeks in, it became obvious the case actually needed a neuroradiologist, someone who reads nothing but brain and spine imaging. The report had to be redone. Cost and time nobody wanted to lose. This happens more than anyone likes to admit. The two job titles sound close enough on paper that people assume they are basically the same thing with a different name attached, but they are not.
