Madam C.J. Walker
   Madam C.J. Walker, the first Black woman 
millionaire of America, built her business 
empire with her homemade hair care 
products for Black women. She was a 
talented entrepreneur who carried a flair for 
self-promotion, following which she created 
her enterprise. However, apart from being a 
self-made entrepreneur, she also used her 
fortune for funding scholarship and donated 
a major section of her wealth to other 
charities.
Philanthropy
  Madam C.J. Walker extended a 
helping hand in raising funds for 
establishing a branch of YMCA in the 
black community of Indianapolis, 
committing a sum of $ 1,000 for the 
building fund, Senate Avenue YMCA.
Activism
   Talking of Madam C.J. Walker as an 
activist, she turned more vocal about 
her views after earning her wealth 
and notoriety. She presented her 
thoughts in an annual gathering of 
NNBL, the National Negro Business 
League from the conventional floor.
