• The basic objective of the Right to Product Information is to empower 
the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in the 
Government and Industry to Consumer connects viz.
• To ensure detection of illegal, fake and spurious product inclusions to 
contain corruption, and make citizen trust the operational system in 
true sense.
• It is pertinent to note that Information is the right of citizen more so, 
when it pays taxes for the produce that they are entitled to procure.

purchase decisions, leading to enhanced revenue collection for 
genuine quality products and services by genuine manufacturers.

• Thus the deployment of RPI® will rest with independent entities to 
develop and deploy solutions that seamlessly integrates the supply 
chain mechanism, wherein the stake holders viz. Manufacturers, 
service providers and the Government are linked to product quality 
and ownerships thereof.
• The existing procedures are cumbersome, since the consumer must 
seek redressals from courts which are time consuming and invariably 
leads to incurring larger costs for decisive judgements in favour of 
rightful claimants.
