Generally, it is not optional to exclude any file or folders or other 
programs from scanning as your PC is always are on a vulnerable side. 
However, your system’s speed will increase and scanning will take less 
time.  If any problem arises and you are not able to exclude the files 
then try to uninstall www.avg.com/retail.
Check Out The Way To Exclude Files From Scanning:
1. To eliminate files and folders from scanning:
 Go to the AVG icon and double-click
 Hit “Preferences” and then “Shields”
 Now, click “Settings”
 Choose the plus (+) icon and select the file or directory which you 
want to exclude from File Shield
 Hit “Choose” in the bottom of right-hand side corner
Note:  If prompted fill your administrator details and select to install 
helper
 Hit “Done”
Note: You can also remove the files or items from the “Excluded Path” 
by going the directory or file path in the list and clicking minus (-) icon
2. To eliminate Mail Server from scanning:
 Go to the AVG icon and double-click on www.avg.com/retail
 Hit “Preferences” and then “Shields”
 Click, “Settings” in the “Mail Shield” part
 Choose the plus (+) icon and fill your administrator credentials, if 
prompted
 Now enter the “Mail Server” and choose the option from the 
dropdown in the Service type
 Hit “Done”
Note: You can also remove the item from “Excluded Path” by selecting 
the server in the list and clicking the minus (-) icon
3. To eliminate Websites from scanning:
 Go to the AVG icon and double-click on avg.com/retail
 Hit “Preferences” and then “Shields”
 In the “Settings” section, select the “Web Shield”  and then 
“Settings”
 Hit the plus (+) icon and fill your administrator credentials, if 
prompted
 Now enter the “ Web Server” and select the option from the 
dropdown in the Service type
 Hit “Done”
Note: You can also remove the website from “Excluded Servers” by 
selecting the server in the list and clicking the minus (-) icon
