The SA20 or mini-IPL as it is being 
framed is  the recent initiative by CSA 
to identify and  nurture top talent in 
South Africa. The  tournament 
started on 10th January 2023 and  
will run till 11th Feb 2023. The mini-
IPL will  feature 33 matches including 
the playoffs and  the final.
The tournament is often called 
mini IPL as  all the franchises 
participating in the  inaugural 
season are owned by the owners  
of IPL teams.
SA20 unique rules:
• The captains will be allowed to finalize their playing XI after 
the coin toss  
• No byes if the batsman is bowled on a free-hit delivery
• No overthrows of a direct hit
