About us
• Uptown International School (UIS), a Taaleem school, is one of the 
country's most prestigious IB schools. UIS is a multilingual, global 
educational institution located in the heart of the Mirdif community in 
Dubai. Here students learn how to think critically, challenge assumptions, 
excel, build character, build friendships, and become multilingual global 
citizens.
• We are an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School 
offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme 
(MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). The school language of 
instruction is English. The Arabic language studies are in the Early Years 
Programme and French is offered from Grade 1 onwards.
• It is our goal to nurture students regardless of ability or aspiration 
through outstanding facilities and inspiring staff. This will enable them to 
discover their passion and reach their potential. It is our goal to provide 
the spark that ignites the flame in each student and helps keep it ablaze.

•Uptown offers a unique approach to Model United Nations because it 
arranges both an MY (Middle Years) MUN and MUN (High school) 
combined into one, so that delegates can grow from novice delegates in 
Grade 6 into strong leaders by the time they are in Grade 9. 
•The school has a capacity for 2,100 students and currently has some 
1,440 students with approximately 30% being from the local Emirati 
population; the remaining students come from a wide range of 
nationalities. Teachers, some 111 in total, are mainly recruited from the 
UK and supported by a further 36 teaching assistants.
