Literally, this means "drawing with a pen." In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Kalamkari 
is hand-painted or block-printed artwork on cotton fabric, but it originates from the 
Mughal era. The Sasani era in Iran is when the Kalamkari art first appeared. 
Middle Age
