ABOUT us
• Dubai Culture & Arts Authority was launched on 8th March 2008 by His 
Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and 
Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
• The Authority enables and develops the cultural and creative sectors in 
the emirate as the custodian entity, based on its cultural responsibility 
towards Dubai and to help define it in both a local and global context.
• Under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin 
Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture, the Authority is 
committed to enriching the cultural scene of the emirate, firmly rooted in 
the heritage of the United Arab Emirates. It is working on building 
bridges of constructive dialogue between various civilizations and 
cultures to enhance Dubai’s position as a global center for art and 
culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.
AL SHINDAGHA MUSEUM
• Al Shindagha Museum tells the story of the rich cultural heritage of Dubai, the 
nation's proud past and Emirati traditions. A world-class heritage museum 
committed to education, exploration and celebration of culture. Set along the 
historical area of Al Shindagha Neighbourhood, it has witnessed the dramatic 
development of the emirate.
• Today, the carefully curated 21 Houses within the district feature interactive 
technology installations with a regular offering of public and educational 
programming for families, students and private groups. It reveals the cross-
cultural aspects of the UAE providing guests with a tangible and intangible 
understanding of the museum. Among these Houses is The Al Maktoum Residence, 
one of the most prominent heritage sites that explores the erstwhile royal 
residence of His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, former Ruler of 
Dubai.
• The warm Emirati hospitality reflects in its museum's team of local and multi-
lingual cultural guides which is welcoming to the community and the youth. The 
creek's remarkable transformation turns Al Shindagha Museum into the regional 
culture and traditional centre making it Dubai's largest heritage museum.
