Marvel Studios confirmed James Gunn’s Guardians of 
the Galaxy vol. 3 will arrive in theaters in 2023.
During the Disney investor presentation Marvel Studios 
confirmed that James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is 
expected to arrive in theaters in 2023. It’s not surprising that we 
have such a long wait until the third film finally debuts since 
Gunn is rather busy working over with Marvel’s distinguished 
competition in the DC Extended Universe.
The Suicide Squad
As many already know, he shifted over to take on The 
Suicide Squad after he was fired by Disney regarding old 
tweets that had resurfaced. Luckily, he was called back for 
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 and now the director gets to 
play with the best of both universes.
And although fans have a long wait until Guardians of the 
Galaxy vol. 3 heads to theaters in 2023 (because of James 
Gunn’s work on the Peacemaker series) The Guardians of 
the Galaxy Holiday Special is set to arrive on Disney Plus at 
the end of 2022. The special will be filmed during 
production of vol. 3, so it should at least give audiences a 
flavor of what to expect in the upcoming sequel.
