License Description: Specialty electricians must be licensed in 
Idaho and are only allowed to work in their area of specialization. 
Specialty licenses are available in the areas of: Elevator; Sign; 
Manufacturing/Assembling; Limited Energy; Irrigation Sprinkler; Well 
Driller/Pump Installer; Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning; 
Outside Wireman (Lineman); and Photovoltaic (Solar) Installer. 
Specialty Journeyman Electrician must: 1.) Document a minimum of 
4,000 hours of work experience as an Idaho Electrical Specialty 
Trainee; 2.) Submit an application with required documents and fees;

3.) Pass an exam. Term: Licenses are valid for three (3) years for 
specialty apprentices.
