COMMON WEALTH GAMES
Introduction:
• The common wealth game is a multinational, multisport event which fe
atures competitions involving thousands of elite athletes from all over
world
• 3rd largest multi sport event in the world after Summer Olympic and As
ian Games.
• Motto is Humanity-Equality-Destiny
• First held in 1930 in the Hamilton city of Canada

participated from across 11 countries all around the world.

• For the first time India hosted the Commonwealth Games

Delhi in 2010.

Commonwealth
Games. In Delhi Commonwealth Games India performed
best till date. So far India has won 438 medals (comprise
of 155 gold medals, 155 silver medals and 128 bronze
medals) in the Commonwealth Games.

• Australia’s youngest gold medallist in swimming Jenny
Turrell,
who was just 13 when she competed at the 1974 Games in
Christchurch.

•For the fifth time Australia has hosted a Commonwealth
Games at Gold Coast in 2018.
