(TBI)
Traumatic Brain Injury or TBI is a neurological condition that is caused by

Memory improvement therapy for a patient goes hand- in-hand with speech and other
therapies. To help an individual improve their memory our Speech-Language Pathologist
includes memory aids for their improvement and recovery process, which includes
implementing a memory log, calendar, documented schedule, or a log (digital or on a smart
device) of important addresses and phone numbers. Our SpeechLanguage Pathologist will
provide formal training to an individual on how to use these tools to enhance their
memory. With practice, this will help individuals to build memory competency as well as
language in the long-run.
TBI DYSPHAGIA TREATMENT SPEECH THERAPY
Dysphagia caused by TBI is a common problem among recovering individuals. recovering from the
condition. To help individuals recovering from Dysphagia after a traumatic brain injury, our Speech-
Language Pathologist will conduct a Bedside Dysphagia Evaluation, Modified Barium Swallow
Evaluation and/or fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) process, to determine find
out the root cause of concern problem. Once the root cause of Dysphagia has been discovered, our
Speech- Language Pathologist will use exercises such as effortful swallowing, HAWK and Masako
Maneuver techniques, along with thermal stimulation therapy and vital Stimulation therapy to help
individuals recovering from Dysphagia due to issues because of TBI.
