   Hip Replacement
Hip replacement surgery is a procedure in which a doctor surgically removes a painful hip 
joint with arthritis and replace it with an artificial joint often made from metal and plastic 
components. It usually done when all other treatment options have failed to provide 
adequate plain relief. In this surgery procedure in which hip joint is replaced by a 
prosthesis implant that is, a hip prosthesis.

Total Hip Replacement :-
The most common type of hip replacement surgery is called a total hip replacement (also 
called total hip arthroplasty). In this surgery, worn-out or damaged sections of your hip are 
replaced with artificial implants. The socket is replaced with a durable plastic cup, which 
may or may not also include a titanium metal shell. Your femoral head will be removed and 
replaced with a ball made from ceramic or a metal alloy. The new ball is attached to a 
metal stem that is inserted into the top of your femur.
Partial Hip Replacement :-
Partial Hip Replacement is a surgical procedure used to replace half of the hip joint. The 
operation involves replacing the ball of the femur that has worn from arthritis, 
degeneration, or a serious fracture involving the ball of the hip joint. Normal motion 
becomes restricted and painful with advanced wear of the hip joint.
Hip resurfacing :-
Hip resurfacing has been 
developed as a surgical 
alternative to total hip 
replacement. The procedure 
consists of placing a cap, 
which is hollow and shaped 
like a mushroom, over the 
head of the femur .Hip 
resurfacing is a type of surgery 
to replace a damaged hip 
joint. In the hip joint, the 
rounded head of the 
thighbone (the femoral head) 
moves smoothly inside the 
round socket of the hip bone. 
Normally, the socket is lined 
with cartilage, which helps the 
bones move smoothly.
