Not just a convention center! It will house a luxury mall, office spaces, hotels, a theater for the performing arts and reportedly rooftop drive-in movie theatre (not sure about this last one!). Maybe an ice skating rink too? Indoor skiing possible? Brands that have ties ups with Reliance allegedly will get the first look on their space in the luxury mall, such brands include Armani, Zegna, Bottega Veneta, Canali to name a few. The future headquarters for the Reliance Group will be located there. Located across from the American Consulate in Mumbai – security will be & is very tight (just taking these photos we got harassed by security and police making sure we didn’t take photos of the consulate, so be aware if you are so inspired!). The plot was allotted in 2006 for an 80-year lease to Reliance by the MMRDA at a lease premium of over 900 cr. Reliance Industries paid 643 cr (nearly $100M) to the MMRDA for not completing construction on time. The complex was actually supposed to be completed on July 14th, 2012. Fashion Week will be held here. The famous bi-annual Lakme Fashion Week will be held here, they plan on starting as soon as the project is completed. The convention center has a total size of about 7 million square feet. There is an awesome fountain and in fact the only one we know of in BKC, here is a clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGMqweMi0a4 The original name of the convention center was Dhirubhai Ambani International Convention & Exhibition Centre (DAICEC), but accordingly to headlines in December 2018 it was changed to Jio World Centre. This convention center will take Mumbai to the next level and is very much needed. We look forward to its completion in 2020 and trust that it will be worth the wait. World Centre:
