Established in the Academic year 2020-21, the Department of Information Technology aims to prepare students 
for the active requirements of the IT industry. Moreover, the department is dedicated to empowering students to 
meet the high standards of the IT industry through a collaborative academic environment. Thus, in this blog, 
let’s look into the department’s objectives, infrastructure, research endeavour, notable achievements, and the 
specialized training it offers to empower students for success.
Objectives
• In fact, we ensure in fostering a synergistic academic atmosphere.
• To provide training in cutting-edge technologies such as Machine Learning, Data Analytics, and IoT.
• To facilitate sustained interaction among industry experts, faculty, and students.
• Infrastructure at the Department of Information Technology
• Firstly, the Department of Information Technology boasts a robust infrastructure to support student learning 
and research.
• Further, this includes a dedicated Data Structures and Algorithms Lab equipped with i5 systems, providing 
students with the necessary tools to explore and implement complex algorithms.
• Additionally, the department features a fully-equipped Computer Networks Lab, also equipped with i5 
systems, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in networking concepts and technologies.
• Also, the department proudly houses a state-of-the-art NVIDIA Research Lab, equipped with Jetson Nano 2GB 
Kits, made possible through an Academic Hardware Grant from NVIDIA Singapore Pvt.Ltd.
These cutting-edge facilities offer students unparalleled opportunities to engage in research and 
experimentation in fields such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and robotics, leveraging the powerful 
capabilities of NVIDIA’s technology.

• Additionally, the department has made significant strides in research, with 10 journal 
publications, 12 conference presentations, and 3 patents filed. Furthermore, it 
has secured funding of Rs.2,30,000 underscoring its dedication to advancing knowledge and 
driving innovation in academia.

Academic Milestone
• In addition to fulfilling all academic milestones, Department of Information Technology at KRCE 
also surpasses 90% Pass Percentage Milestone.
Awards & Achievements at KRCE Collège’s IT Department
• Dr. S. Manikandan, Head of Department for IT, secures an Academic Hardware Grant worth Rs. 2.3 
Lakhs from NVIDIA Singapore Pvt. Ltd.
• Ms. Srimathy, a third-year IT student, earns the esteemed title of Student Ambassador of Huawei.
• Mrs. R. Kamalitta, Assistant Professor, showcases her expertise by undertaking consultancy work 
for Trichy Co-operative Bank, earning Rs. 10,500.
• Mrs. R. Kamalitta extends her knowledge through workshops on Mobile Application Development 
for schools and Arts and Science Colleges as an Outreach activity.
• Ms. R. Gayana, Assistant Professor, enriches student futures with a workshop on Career Guidance 
at BIT-Campus.
