The Braided Headband
Learn the natural drop of hair or the way you need the braid to go in (left to right or right to left). Build a
vertical ear-to-ear split about 2 inches apart from your hairline over the top of your head. Adjust the
leftover hair out of the process with a hairclip.
Grab a one-inch part immediately above the ear and split it into three-strand. Start the French braid
method by combining a small sum of hair from in front of the part each time you intersect the strands.
Trip across the top of the head until you reach the opposite ear, braid 2 inches down and adjust with an
elastic. This will form a braid that will rest flat on the head. Pin any shorter sections with a bobby pin.
You can drop the braid lose back your ear! If your job situation is not hair accessory favorable, pin the
braid below the hair by passing two bobby pins like an “X”.

Box Braids
Use a bit of INDIQUE HAIR CARE ESSENTIALS DRY SHAMPOO through wet hair. Build a part underneath
the core of your hair using the end of a comb. Clip one side out of the form.
Get a small triangular part at the beginning of the hairline about 1 inch deep. A critical time to learn
when performing box braids is to knit each piece under, rather than over (simply the reverse of a regular
French braid) to provide it the obvious “pop-out” result.
Replicate the pattern of meeting the right part under the middle strand, and suddenly the left part
under the middle strand. Continue attaching more hair (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch) from the part every time
you weave a new part.
Maintain the pattern down the back of the head, identifying to hold the balance so the braid is secure.
Tighten at the bottom with an elastic and replicate on the opposite side.
Keep those braids seeming good from your morning Starbucks to go to your evening post-work turn
session with CHAKA BY INDIQUE IKHANIC SHINE. To maintain the hair look overnight- try silk pillow
covers to reduce tugging or hair extensions.
