A Hindu Wedding is the traditional wedding 
ceremony for Hindus. The Indian wedding

• The ceremony begins with the bridegroom standing and facing the east while

wedding venue.

arrives, the Antarpat is withdrawn amidst a crescendo of shehnais and the 
couple sees each other for the first time. The guests shower akshatas on the 
couple. 
• The bride garlands the groom and likewise the bridegroom garlands his bride. 
It is now that the Karolis from the boy’s side perform an arti for the bride and 
likewise the bride’s Karolis do the same for the groom. Interestingly the bride’s 
mother is not present during this event.
• Every item has a different significance. Antarpat wedding cloth is one
