Types of chemical peels
Chemical peels are are Cosmetic cum medical treatments to enhance
the appearance of skin. Unlike botox in Las Vegas treatment,
chemical peels can be applied to the face, hands, and neck. Chemical
peels carried out in med spa in Las Vegas are used to improve
damaged skin's appearance by applying exfoliating acids. Once the
old skin peels off, the softer, smoother, and less damaged skin
underneath appears, giving you a fresher appearance.
Chemical peels are typically in-clinic treatments and may be carried
out in outpatient surgical facilities. Your doctor will clean your face or
the treatment area, and they may offer you eye protection gear like
goggles.
Light peels
Superficial or light peels use mild acids like Alpha hydroxy acid to
exfoliate only the outermost layer of skin gently. During a light
chemical peel, a gauze or brush is used to apply a chemical solution
to the treatment area. The skin that comes in contact with the acid
will begin to whiten, and you may experience a slight stinging
sensation. Once the application is complete, the chemical solution is
removed, or a neutralizing agent is applied.
Medium peels
Medium peels use trichloroacetic acid or glycolic acid to reach the
skin's middle and outer layer. It is slightly more effective than
superficial peel and is meant for damage caused by acne-like skin
conditions. During a medium chemical peel treatment, doctors use
gauze or a cotton-tipped applicator to apply the chemical to your
treatment area. The chemical solution used for medium peels could
be glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid. As soon as the acid is applied,
your skin will begin to whiten, and the doctor may apply a cool
compress to the skin. You may experience stinging or a mild burning
sensation for up to 20 minutes. Neutralizing solutions are not applied
for medium peels. Doctors may offer a handheld fan to cool your skin
after the application.
Deep peels
Deep peels use phenol or trichloroacetic acid to penetrate the
middle layer of the skin fully. It helps remove damaged skin cells and
is reserved for more serious skin damage. During deep chemical peel
treatments, you will most probably be sedated. Doctors may use
cotton-tipped applicators to apply phenol to your skin. Phenol turns
your skin white or grey, and the procedure is portioned in 15-minute
slots to limit the skin exposure to the acid.
