Jean-Andre Carriere's exquisitely constructed film, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Myflixer is set in an idealized, unknowable past that reflects Beth's early years. However, seeing Bob, who is usually sympathetic, get irritated at having to eat a TV meal wrapped in foil on a stack table—a scenario from a 1950s sitcom—is a little startling. Audiences may seek more confirmation that the community's understanding of the Herdmans' predicament led to greater sustained assistance, even if the pageant proves to be a success.
