Chandrashila is a summit trek in the Garhwal Himalayas, rising to nearly 4,000 metres just above the Tungnath temple. Starting from Chopta, the trail covers about 5 kilometres in total, offering panoramic views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba, best experienced during sunrise. A well-planned chandrashila trek package usually includes transport from Rishikesh or Haridwar, comfortable stays in Chopta, an experienced guide for the pre-dawn climb, and adequate rest time before the final ascent. Ideal months to trek are April to June and September to November, with warm layered clothing and a reliable headlamp essential for the early start. Passing through the sacred Tungnath temple along the way adds spiritual depth to the journey. With the right preparation and support, Chandrashila remains one of the most rewarding short treks in Uttarakhand.
