alcohol in the body?
Whenever it comes to drug alcohol testing there are several alternatives
appear from which any can be chosen. Every testing method has its
characteristics and benefits. All the methods are used as per the needs and
requirements. There are many available centers of urgent care in
Sacramento CA who are specialized in testing alcohol consumption in the
body. Some common alcohol testing methods are explained below which
helps a lot in inspecting the alcohol content in the body by numbers. For
instance, it measures the amount like 0.8 BAC. 0.8 BAC is legally appropriate
while driving.
Here are some five methods that can be used to detect alcohol content.
1) Breath Alcohol Testing:
It is one of the most commonly used tests due to its easy accessibility and on
the spot results. The breathalyzer, an alcohol detecting device, measures the
content of alcohol when an individual exhales the air.
When alcohol enters inside the body then it gets absorbed into the blood.
After that, the alcohol is carried by blood into the whole body, brain, and
lungs. And when an individual breathes out, the device measures the
amount of alcohol and that number is the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
Alcohol can be detected through this breath analysis device for up to 24
hours.
2) Blood Alcohol Testing:
Alcohol can be detected via a blood test as well. When someone needs to
test for alcohol then health care professionals will take a sample of blood
from the arm via needle and send it for the testing process. The testing for
accurate results usually takes 6 - 12 hours. It takes more time than breath
alcohol testing and more accurate than breathe alcohol testing.
Blood alcohol testing gives an accurate number of BAC. Alcohol can be
detected via this testing for up to 12 hours.
3) Urine Alcohol Testing:
The alcohol detecting test by testing urine is known as an ethyl glucuronide
test. It detects the presence of glucuronide (ethanol's breakdown product)
in the urine. This test usually conducted where alcohol is strictly prohibited
for instance in the military, during probation programs, liver transplant,
airline profession, or others.
Detecting even the low level of alcohol is the advantage of this test. This test
usually can detect the amount of alcohol for up to five to six days after
consumption.
4) Hair Alcohol Testing:
Yes, hairs are too useful in detecting the consumption of alcohol in the body.
Even it is the one that can detect alcohol which consumed months before.
The test examines the presence of ethyl glucuronide and fatty acid ethyl
esters. The body hair that can be taken for testing can be of the head, chest,
underarms, or pubic area. But the most preferred sample taken is the head
hair. Almost 200 hair strands can be taken for the test and it must be of 3cm
or above. 3cm of hair can cover 3 months and the length above than 3cm
will cover the period accordingly.
5) Nail Alcohol Testing:
The Nail alcohol testing method is also used to detect alcohol consumption
for a greater length of time. It can replace the breathalyzer and blood
alcohol testing method while in need to detect the alcohol consumption for
up to 90 days. And it ignores the common problems that are usually faced in
the time of hair alcohol testing. This test takes three days to show the
results.
Any of the above-listed can be used according to the situation or
requirements.
