The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
(FSSAI) is the country's regulatory body for food
safety and standards. The
Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006

• FSSAI was incorporated to facilitate food safety. For the
purpose, it has laid down standards for the manufacture,
storage, distribution, sale and import of food items.
• FSSAI also sets up the formulation and enforcement of
