Varicose Veins
Following a thorough diagnostic
evaluation, a treatment plan is developed.
Our treatment for varicose veins or
venous insufficiency for Minneapolis
patients may include lifestyle changes
and medical procedures. Lifestyle
changes may include intermittent leg
elevation, regular exercise and the
avoidance of prolonged standing or
sitting. Medical treatment options may
include compression stockings, vein
injections (sclerotherapy) or outpatient
procedures (endovenous laser ablation
and ambulatory microphlebectomy).
Chronic
Venous
As in the treatImnesntu off fvaircicioesen vecinys,
a thorough diagnostic evaluation is
performed. Multiple modalities may be
needed, including stenting (to open
blockages), endovenous laser ablation
(to
close veins),
ambulatory microphlebectomy (to
remove large surface veins), and
ultrasound-guided chemical
ablation. In addition, chronic
compression stockings use may be
recommended.
Spider Vein
Treatment
Injection sclerotherapy at Minnesota
Vein Center for spider and reticular veins
is efficient and comfortable. Micro-
injection techniques and solutions such
as Sotradecol® and Asclera® have
replaced the older saline injections.
While this procedure is quick (a 30-
minute session), your spider vein
treatment in Minneapolis may require
several visits to complete. You may
return to a normal routine soon after
treatment.

Facial Vein
Treatment
Veinwave™ treatments are quite
effective for treating facial spider veins.
This treatment is minimally invasive. The
probe literally breaches only the very top
layers of skin and does not pierce the
vessel. The nickel probe is insulated with
a micro sheath to prevent trauma to
surrounding tissue. The effect of the
treatment is instant — fine veins are
seen to disappear
immediately.

Lymphedema Treatment
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels
that transports lymph, a protein-rich fluid, back
to the blood. Lymphedema is a chronic swelling
disorder caused by an accumulation of this lymph
fluid in the soft tissue. The buildup of stagnant
fluid causes a mild to severe increase in limb
girth, a decrease in tissue healing ability, and a
high susceptibility to infections or cellulitis in the
affected limb.
Lymphedema most often occurs in the arm or
leg, but can also occur in the face, neck,
abdomen, or genitals. Primary lymphedema is the
result of missing or impaired lymphatic vessels;
symptoms may develop at birth or later in life.
Secondary lymphedema, a much more common
type, is a result of lymph vessel damage or lymph
node removal during surgery or radiation therapy.
It may also occur after injury, scarring, trauma, or
infection of the
lymphatic system.
