This has been made mandatory for each car owner to check the roadworthiness of 
the car  tested annually once the first 3 years of life is completed since buying. And 
to ensure the safety  of everyone on the road, it is necessary to get the vehicle 
tested by an expert that has been  through MOT training and has been eligible to 
perform the task.
MOT testing includes many checks that need to be done about the vehicle ranging 
from brakes  and fuel systems extending to windscreen wipers, lights, mirrors, 
seatbelts, and exhaust  systems. However, it does not include examining the 
conditions like engine, clutch, and  gearbox.
To become an MOT tester, one must understand all these things during the training 
and  course. During the examination term, the tester will verify the components 
visually and will not  be allowed any changes to the vehicle.
Various training centers provide the facility to get the candidate trained 
appropriately and ensure  that the person possesses enough knowledge and skills to 
test the vehicles and ensure road  safety. Following the basic requirements to 
become an MOT tester and ace the step:
1. Possess a valid driving license for the class of vehicles the person wishes to 
test after.
2. Worked as a full-time skilled mechanic in the service and repairing vehicle 
sector to be  pursued for testing for at least 4 continuous years.
3. A qualification of level 3.
4. A good reputation in the field.
5. Has no unspent time for any conviction for criminal offenses or involvement 
in the MOT  fraud, violence, or intimidation.

The MOT training course will enable the person to perform many duties as an 
eligible MOT  tester. Some tasks of it are as listed below;

7. Carrying out MOT tests for the pursued class of vehicles.

How does the course work?
MOT course covers both theory and practical education for a number of hours.
● In the case of class 1 and 2 vehicles, there are a minimum of 16 hours 
of training,  including 4 hours of practical.
● For class 4 and 7 vehicles, the course duration is 29 hours, where 8 hours are 
dedicated  to practical training.
The transferred skill will be assessed through a multiple-choice question test and 
a practical  assessment task allotted to the candidate.
