Strong device-based authentication is need to make sure that connected devices on the Internet of Things can be trusted to be what they claim to be. Consequently, each device on the Internet of Things needs a unique identity that can be authenticated when the device tries to connect to a gateway or central server. With this unique identity in place, information technology system administrators in an organization can track every device throughout its lifecycle, communicate with it in a secure manner, and prevent it from executing harmful processes.
