Makeup is an integral part of women’s self-care routine. It enhances not only one’s natural looks but is a significant boost to confidence. Often, what stops women from buying makeup products is the prohibitively expensive price tags. And if they are inexpensive, they tend to be loaded with chemicals that do terrible things to your complexion and trigger allergic reactions.

Dermatology and Makeup
With increasing pollution and environmental damage to the skin, people are quite conscious
about the kinds of products they use. Let’s look at some of the terms that are dermatologically
associated with makeup. It will also help us to choose the makeup products perfect for our
makeup needs.
What does dermatologically tested mean?
A product labeled as “dermatologically tested” means that a dermatologist has checked how
the skin reacts to its ingredients. However, it is not strictly regulated, and there aren’t standard
tests, so the method of testing can vary from brand to brand. When you see a product labeled
as dermatologically tested makeup, don’t just assume that it is perfect for your sensitive skin.
You should read the ingredient list and educate yourself on what they mean.
What does skin detox mean?
The process of removing toxins (that come from the environment, poor diet, or lifestyle
choices) from the body is called detoxing. The skin can’t remove toxins from the body – that’s
what organs like the kidneys do. Products that claim to “detox” skin protect the skin by
reducing the amount of free radical damage caused by the environment.
An example is Detox & Protect Foundation that can make your face look satiny smooth and
provide sun protection. Some foundations are supplemented with sweet almond oil and
Vitamin E to provide moisture.
What are vegan skincare products?
Vegan skincare products are made entirely from plants, minerals, and synthetic materials. They
don’t have any animal-derived ingredients used in the cosmetic industry (collagen, glycerin,
lanolin, keratin, etc.) They have antioxidant and anti-inflammation properties, and their
manufacturing process can be less damaging to the environment. Vegan foundations provide
great facial coverage and are infused with the goodness of botanical ingredients. Some of them
have added Vitamin E and SPF to protect against sun damage.
