INTRODUCTION
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the primary central agency in India 
responsible for conducting a wide range of examinations. Notably, UPSC administers the 
prestigious Civil Services Examination (CSE), a highly competitive test that serves as the 
gateway to top-tier government services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 
Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Additionally, UPSC plays a 
pivotal role in recruiting candidates for defence services. UPSC is an independent and 
autonomous body it doesn’t come under any Ministry or any Secretary. UPSC exam is to 
select the candidates for all India Services which are supposed to be the top posts in 
India.
ORGANIZATION OF UPSC:
The UPSC consists of a Chairman and ten members, all the members will be 
appointed by the President of India. Each member serves a term of six years or 
until they reach the age of 6
