Fire and safety is a set of exercises intended to reduce the damage caused by 

fire and to prevent accidents due to fire. To prevent unexpected fire and the 

uncontrolled fire in the home, office or any other place can prevent up to a 

certain limit by taking an awareness course in fire and safety. Fire can cause 

heavy losses to the business, death, injury, property damage and the 

destruction of natural resources. 

 

Fire safety awareness causes can help employees to survive fires better and 

to reduce the damage that fires cause to property. The main aim of fire safety 

awareness is to save lives and teach the candidate how to act properly during 

the uncontrolled or unexpected fire in the workplace. This also helps to learn 

how to operate or use the safety tools during an emergency situation.  

 

It is really important to include Fire safety measures during the construction 

of a building or implemented in 

structures that are already standing and 

those that are taught to occupants of the 

building. A single fault from your side 

during handling the fire safety tools and 

the unawareness in an emergency 

situation can cause fire hazards and will

Common Fire Hazards in the Workplace:  

 

• Waste and combustible material being stored on site.  

• Flammable liquids and vapours.  

• Dust build-up.  

• Objects that generate heat.  

• Faulty electrical equipment.  

• Overloading power sockets.  

• The fire caused due to Smoking.  

• Human error and negligence. 

 

It is mandatory to hold a certificate by each and every employee before 

joining to a job. Safety training extends beyond a worker's introduction to the 

job. Without an understanding of safety practices related to her job, a worker 

will be at a higher risk for workplace accidents.  

 

A fire safety course will help to learn details about the tools and how to 

use those in an emergency situation. There is wide range of fire safety

Types of Fire Safety Equipment 

 

Fire Extinguishers. Most buildings contain a variety of hand-held 

firefighting equipment.  

1. Fire Blankets. Fire blankets are designed to smother class F fires. 

2. Fire Hose Reels. Fire hose reels are ideal for extinguishing class A 

fires.  

3. Signage. 

4. Sprinklers. 

5. First Aid Kits. 

6. Emergency & Exit Signs.  

7. Smoke Alarms. 

 

Fire and safety awareness and the knowledge about safety tools will 

provide employees with the skills and knowledge to perform their work in a 

safe and healthful manner, provide sufficient information for managers and 

supervisors to recognize and perform their responsibilities, and provide the 

capabilities for personnel with OSH.
