THE EXAM - 
BANMKosItN BaGnks recruit their personnel (Probationary Officers & Clerks) through a common Exam  
held by IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection). However, SBI also conducts separate  
Examinations for Probationary Officers and Clerks. In addition, the Reserve Bank of India  
(RBI) conducts separate Examinations for Grade-B Officers & Assistants. The Examination

SSC
The Estimates Committee of the Parliament, in its 47th Report  
(1967-68), recommended the setting up of a Service Selection  
Commission for conducting examinations for recruitment to lower  
categories of posts. Pursuant to this, and as an interim measure, an 
 Examination Wing was initially added to the Secretariat Training  
School, subsequently renamed as the Institute of Secretariat  
Training and Management (ISTM). Consequently, the Staff  
Selection Commission (SSC) conducts several Examinations for  
filling up of posts of several cadres and classes – the most  
prominent ones being SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) and  
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level).
