post-tensioning method is used to eliminate shrinkage, to prevent cracks and seal

structures are thinner as compared to its reinforced cement concrete designs. The 
post-tensioning method is a kind of prestressing. Prestressing is a process where 
steel is pulled & stressed before relying for support on concrete. Concrete is strong 
in compression but is weak in tension, and steel is very strong even under tension so 
the combination of both steel and concrete is a mastermind idea that results in the 
better and stronger components of concrete which are larger, thinner, longer, 
durable and stronger. The post-tensioning method is used in the making of elevated 
slabs of parking structures & commercial buildings, bridges, residential foundations, 
columns, and walls.
