Four Different Types Of Nursing Jobs
Four Different Types Of Nursing Jobs

s
There are many nursing jobs available on the job market. There are many vacant positions in the
job market, even though the number of graduates is increasing every year. This is due to a high
demand and shortage of nurses in certain parts of the country. A person can choose from three
types of nursing: registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and registered nurse.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
A Certified Nursing Assistant is a job that
requires less education and training than other
positions. Candidates need to pass an exam and
complete a 6- to 12-week training
program. CNAs work under the direction of a
registered nurse, lpn or other healthcare
professional. CNAs provide basic patient care as
well as assistance with daily living
activities. They often provide important
information to their supervisors about the
patient's medical condition.
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
LPN is defined as someone who gives patient
care to terminally ill, disabled, or sick
patients. LPNs work under the supervision of
physicians or registered nurses and supervise
CNA. They are available in many different
healthcare facilities.
LPN Education
LPNs have higher education and training than
CNA. Candidates must complete a 1-year LPN program at
either a vocational or technical school to become
one. Before they can work in this field, they will need to
pass a licensure exam called the National Council
Licensure Exam.
Registered Nurse (RN).
The largest group of healthcare workers in the US is the
RN. LPNs have similar duties to RNs, but they are more
responsible because of their training and education. They
are able to enjoy greater benefits than those mentioned
previously. They are more likely to be promoted and have
higher salaries.
Three educational options are available to a candidate
for RN. The first is to obtain a diploma. This takes three
years. Only a school that is hospital-based can complete
the diploma program. This program is only open to
candidates who have at least two years of experience in
nursing. An associate's degree is the second option. This
program is focused on technical skills and can be
completed within two years. This last option is to earn a
bachelor's degree. It can take up to four to five years to
complete. A candidate must pass the NCLEXRN exam
after completing one of these programs.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN).
APNs are registered nurses who have completed
advanced training and education in a specific area of
nursing. An APN could be a nurse practitioner, nurse
anesthesiologist or midwife. You may also find sub-
specialties within the field they specialize in.
