Usha Martin University warmly welcomes Prof. Dr.
Milind as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor, effective June
16, 2025. He brings wide academic and
administrative experience, having served as Professor
and Dean at Sushant University, Principal at NSHM
Durgapur, and worked with the University of
Huddersfield (UK) and the Ministry of Tourism,
Government of India.
Dr. Milind holds a PhD in Management, along with an
MBA in HRM, MA in Industrial and Organizational
Psychology, Enterprise Management from IIT Delhi,
and B.Sc. in Zoology. He is also certified by the
CMI–UK (Level-5) through the AICTE-UKIERI
program. His presence will strengthen the university’s
vision of inclusive, research-driven, and values-based
education.

Usha Martin University Tops Jharkhand in IIRF Rankings

Usha Martin University, Ranchi, has been ranked 1st among private universities in
Jharkhand by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025. At the zonal level, it
secured the 6th rank in the East Zone and 66th nationally. The ranking, which evaluates
over 1,000 institutions across India, reflects rigorous analysis and is widely recognised by
the academic and corporate sectors.
This was the university’s first participation in the IIRF rankings, and achieving the top
position at the state level highlights its commitment to educational excellence. Spread
across a 30-acre campus, the university offers more than 30 programs and educates
around 4,000 students across disciplines such as Management, Pharmacy,

The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication organised an informative session on 2
June 2025, led by Prof. Rabindranath Manukonda, for BA Journalism students. The session

The Faculty of Agriculture organized a one-day hands-on training session on beekeeping
on 16 May, aimed at educating B.Sc. Agriculture students on practical apiculture
techniques and scientific approaches. The session focused on promoting sustainable
agricultural practices and exploring self-employment opportunities through honeybee
farming.

Chakraborty, Head of the Faculty, participants learned to handle beekeeping equipment
such as smokers, protective gear, and hive tools. They were trained in hive inspection
techniques, observed the queen bee, workers, and brood patterns, and practiced honey
harvesting and filtering. The interactive session also helped students overcome

BBA Students Visit CCL for Industrial Exposure
On 2 May 2025, the Department of Training and Placement organized an industrial visit for
BBA VI Semester students to Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Rajrappa. The visit
offered students firsthand exposure to public-sector mining operations, including
open-cast mining fields, coal processing units, and safety monitoring systems.
Discussions on industrial safety, environmental sustainability, and technological
advancements enriched their understanding and encouraged exploration of
public-sector career opportunities.
Industrial Tour to Visakhapatnam for Practical Insights
From 12 to 15 May 2025, the Department of Training and Placement conducted an
industrial tour to Visakhapatnam, guided by Dr. Md. Saifullah Khalid. Students visited
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ),
observing large-scale manufacturing processes, quality control, supply chain practices,
and innovations like 3D printing in MedTech. The tour provided professional

The Faculty of Legal Studies organized the “1st Chanakya Intra Moot Competition” in May
2025, offering
B.B.A. LL.B. students a platform to develop advocacy skills and gain practical

multiple rounds, starting with preliminary presentations before a panel of faculty judges.

On 12 May 2025, the Nursing Department organized a grand two-day celebration for
International Nursing Day. The event began with an inauguration by Pro Chancellor Prof.

On 12 May 2025, students and faculty members of Usha Martin University joined the
national webinar organised by AICTE under the “ररररर रररर – Nation First” campaign.
The webinar aimed to sensitise higher
education institutions to equip students and faculty to respond effectively to national

Usha Martin University Students Gain Hands-On Anatomy
Experience at RIMS
On 16 May 2025, the Department of Physiotherapy at Usha Martin University organized an
educational visit for BPT 1st- and 2nd-year students to the Anatomical Museum at Rajendra
Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi. Coordinated by Dr. Aayushi Kumari and Dr.
Aniket Kumar Mishra under the supervision of Dr. Akanksha Anand Saxena, the visit aimed
to provide practical exposure to human anatomy and enhance understanding of structural
and functional aspects through direct observation.
During the visit, students explored key sections of the Anatomical Department at RIMS. In
the Dissection Hall, they observed cadaver dissection setups and learned about
dissection techniques and ethical considerations. The Embryological Museum
showcased stages of human development, offering visual insight into developmental
anatomy. The Regional Anatomy Museum allowed students to correlate theoretical
knowledge with preserved specimens of different body regions. Finally, the X-Ray
Museum provided an understanding of internal anatomical features through diagnostic

On World Environment Day, the Faculty of Agriculture, in collaboration with the NSS Unit,
organized a tree plantation drive on campus to promote environmental conservation and
sustainable living practices. A total of 56 NSS volunteers participated, planting over 150
saplings, including Mahogany, Bougainvillea, Arjun, Ashok, Mango, and Litchi, aiming to
enhance biodiversity and beautify the surrou1n5dings.
The event was attended by key university officials, including the Registrar, Dean of
Academics, NSS coordinators, and faculty members from various departments.
Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar emphasized the importance of tree plantation
in combating climate change and maintaining ecological balance. The drive concluded
with all participants taking a pledge to care for the newly planted trees and contribute to
building a greener, sustainable environment.
Birsa Munda Commemorated on 125th Death Anniversary
On 9 June 2025, a special program was organized to mark the 125th death anniversary of
Bhagwan Birsa Munda, honouring the legendary tribal leader and freedom fighter who
fought against British colonialism and social injustice. The event highlighted his role as
a charismatic leader of the Ulgulan movement, advocating for land rights, forest
conservation, religious freedom, and tribal identity in the Chotanagpur region.

The program aimed to educate students and faculty about Birsa Munda’s life and
ideology, promote awareness of tribal history and rights, and encourage respect for
indigenous contributions to India’s freedom struggle. Concluding the event, the Vice-
Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Registrar, and Dean emphasized the importance of
integrating the history of tribal heroes into mainstream academic discourse, fostering
an atmosphere of learning, reflection, and pride in India’s diverse heritage.
PhD Orientation Programme Conducted for 2025 Research Scholars
Usha Martin University organized a PhD Orientation Programme for the newly admitted
2025 batch, with 47 research scholars from disciplines including Journalism and Mass
Communication, Engineering, Computing
& IT, Business Management, Agriculture, Health Sciences, and Legal Studies participating.
The programme began with a welcome and interactive ice-breaking session between
scholars and supervisors. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik encouraged scholars
to undertake high-quality, ethical, and socially relevant research, emphasizing innovation
and interdisciplinary approaches. Dr. Arvind Hans, Dean Faculty, provided an overview of
the university’s vision, research ecosystem, and resources, while Dr. Amir Khusro Akhter
concluded the programme with a detailed session on the PhD structure and research
process, guiding scholars on their academic j1o7urney.
International Yoga Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm by Students and
Faculty
International Yoga Day 2025 was celebrated on campus with active participation from
students and faculty, highlighting the importance of wellness, balance, and mindfulness.
The event was led by DSW Dr. Jayantika Pal along with yoga instructor Mr. Harendra, who
guided participants through a series of asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques.
The program emphasized the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga,
encouraging attendees to integrate these practices into their daily routines. Faculty and
students engaged in group exercises and mindfulness sessions, fostering a sense of
community and holistic well-being. The celebration served not only as a fitness initiative
but also as a reminder of the value of mental clarity, stress management, and a balanced
lifestyle in academic and personal life.
