WHAT IS FERTILITY AND INFERTILITY?
Fertility is defined as the natural capacity to conceive a
child. However, fertility does not come easily to everyone.
Few couples will face infertility—the inability to conceive
naturally after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse.
Infertility is not only a female health issue.
Both men and women can experience
infertility.
FACTORS TO GET PREGNANT NATURALLY?
Egg (Female)
Sexual Fertilization Implantation Pregnancy
Intercourse
Sperm (Male)
In general Women will have

The process of fertilization involves a sperm fusing with Implantation is the stage of pregnancy at which the embryo
an ovum (Egg) adheres to the wall of the uterus.
INFERTILITY IN WOMEN
▪ Female age of 35 years or older- who have been trying to conceive for six months
or longer
▪ Ovulation disorders which affect the release of eggs from the ovaries like
polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
▪ Uterine or cervical abnormalities- tumors in the uterine wall (uterine fibroids)
may cause infertility by blocking the fallopian tubes
▪ Fallopian tube damage or blockage
▪ Endometriosis- when endometrial tissue grows outside of the uterus, may affect
the function of the ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes.
▪ Primary ovarian insufficiency (early menopause), when the ovaries stop working
and menstruation ends before age 40
▪ Cancer and its treatment. Certain cancers — particularly reproductive cancers —
often impair female fertility. Both radiation and chemotherapy may affect fertility.
▪ Multiple miscarriages
INFERTILITY IN MEN?
▪ Sperm count, or the number of sperm
▪ Shape of the sperm
▪ Movement of the sperm, which includes both the wiggling motion of the
sperm themselves and the transport of the sperm through the tubes of
the male reproductive system
▪ Abnormal sperm production or function due to health problems.
▪ Problems with the delivery of sperm due to sexual problems, such as
premature ejaculation and certain genetic diseases
▪ Overexposure to certain environmental factors, Cigarette smoking and
