What is appendicitis?
Your appendix can become inflamed or infected, 
which causes appendicitis. A little tube-shaped 
structure, the appendix is joined to the big 
intestine. Although the function of the appendix is 
unknown, appendicitis is a dangerous condition. 
To remove the unhealthy appendix, a surgeon 
typically performs an appendectomy
Symptoms of Appendicitis
• Pain that gets worse when you cough, move jarringly, 
or in other ways 
• Flatulence
• Nausea and diarrhoea
• Low-grade fever that could get worse when the 
disease gets worse

• A mass of hardened faeces
• Increased lymphoid follicle size
• Digestive worms
• A serious injury
• Tumors
Complications
An appendix rupture - Abdomen becomes infected after a rupture 
(peritonitis). This condition necessitates emergency surgery to remove the 
appendix and clear your abdominal cavity since it may be life-threatening.
A pus-filled sac that develops in the abdomen - A surgeon inserts a 
catheter into an abscess if the appendix bursts, and the tube is left in 
place for two weeks to treat the infection.
Treatment of Appendicitis
• If your abscess has not erupted, surgery
• Drugs that reduce pain
• IV liquids
• Fluid diet
• Before having needle drainage or surgery 
to remove an abscess
