History Of Dell Boomi:
Boomi was founded in 2000, beginning with “configuration-based” integration. Boomi have introduced 
Technology which allows all its users to build and deploy integration processes using a visual interface 
and a drag and drop technique. This interface remains as one of the key elements of the current Boomi 
platform.
                                          In 2007 Boomi released a technology which is now known as “AtomSphere”. It 
was the first integration cloud in the industry. AtomSphere technology has kept visual, point and click 
interface for building the intergrations and they can also be managed through a simple browser-based 
User Interface.
                                           On November 2, 2010, Boomi announced its acquisition by Dell. Dell boomi is a 
business unit which is acquired by dell in 2010. It spezializes in cloud based integration,API management 
and master data management.
                                           By February 2018, researchers of Dell Boomi suggested that “86% of IT decision 
makers believe becoming a more connected business would mean revenue growth for their organisation 
over the course of one year”. Dell Boomi was selected as its integration-platform-as-a-service solution.

What is Dell Boomi?
Dell Boomi AtomSphere is an on-demand multi-tenant cloud integration platform for

supported by AtomSphere range from small business to enterprise classproducts. Boomi 
Atom can handle very large volumes, upwards of 1,000,000 records an hour.

How does Boomi differ from an Application Programming Interface (API)?
 Initially, API opens up secure access to data in an application which does not 
accomplish the integration itself. An API is like an electrical socket – until something is 
plugged into it, it just sits there.
Boom integration Connectors are like “plugs”. Boomi Connectors plugs  into and API 
and then abstract the technical details of the API and finally transports protocols that 
are used to communicate with various applications and data sources, which allows 
you to focus on the business data and logic of the integration. A Connector is a 
combination of two Components: a Connection and  Operation. Think of the 
Connection as the where and the Operation as the how. These two components 
determine the type of data source, how to physically connect to it, and what type of 
data records to exchange.
