About Eliquis
● Apixaban (Eliquis) is a medication used in patients with a medical condition called 
atrial fibrillation to reduce the chance of stroke. 
● It is also used in lung or vein treatment or avoidance of clots.

Uses of Eliquis
● Eliquis is used for managing or avoiding deep vein thrombosis, a disease in which 
the blood vessels of the legs develop unhealthy blood clots. 
● Such blood clots can migrate to the lungs and can be trapped in the lungs blood 
vessel, creating a condition known as pulmonary embolism. 
● This drug is used for many days after hip or knee replacement surgery while you are 
unable to walk. 
● Most reputable Canadian pharmacies provide Eliquis at good prices relative to US

How does it work?
● Eliquis is an anticoagulant, a factor Xa blocker.
● This works by reducing the blood coagulation ability and helps prevent the 
formation of dangerous clots in the blood vessels.
● Eliquis is also used in patients with some heart rhythm disorder (e.g., nonvalvular 
atrial fibrillation) to avoid stroke and blood clots.

Side effects of Eliquis
● Medication can cause some unwanted effects along with its needed 
effects. 
● Although not all of these side effects may exist, they may need 
medical attention if they do occur.
● Immediately check with your doctor if any of the following side 
effects occur: blood in the eyes, blood in the urine, bleeding or dark 
tarry stools, swelling or bruised skin patches, nausea, constipation, 
blood vomiting, and diminished alertness.
