What’s really fascinating is how people from completely different worlds are suddenly finding themselves in the middle of legal debates. For instance, a student finishing a doctorate in robotics might think their biggest challenge is sensor calibration, but then they realize that if their robot makes a mistake in a hospital, who is liable? The coder? The manufacturer? This is why we are seeing a massive surge in interdisciplinary work where a phd in cse or a doctorate in software engineering intersects with high-level legal policy. It’s a bit of a wild frontier, to be honest.
