gain.

environmental  concerns  worldwide.  Beyond  simply  planting  trees,  educational
programs currently teach students and community members how to grow trees and
preserve the environment—activities found both at home and in schools. Community
groups in many areas have planted nearly a million trees for similar reasons in recent
years,  partly  to  reduce  rising  levels  of  carbon  dioxide  (CO2)  in  the  atmosphere.
Increasing CO2 levels add to greenhouse gases, which are thought by many scientists
to  contribute  to  global  warming.  Planting  additional  trees  reduces  CO2 and  also
lessens the threat of flooding.

amounts  of  rainwater.  They  help  prevent  flooding,  which  can  destroy  homes,
