Tally Prime e-Invoicing
e-Invoicing is a mechanism that allows the
Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) to
electronically authenticate B2B invoices. As a
result, Tally Prime makes it easy to
configure/generate e-Invoices for your
company. When your e-invoice is complete,
the information should be reflected in GSTR-1.

As a result, taxpayers, tax consultants, and
other qualifying entities can use Tally Prime’s
e-invoice service. The experience is
straightforward and is based on routine
invoicing activity that does not necessitate

If you use Tally Prime, for example, you only
need to record your sales transactions as
normal, and your e-invoice requirement will
be met in the same flow! Important
information, such as IRN, Ack No., QR code,
and e-Way Bill no., will be automatically
changed in the vouchers, and you can

Simple One-Time Setup for
e-Invoice Generation
It is simple to get started with e-invoicing! All
you have to do is create an e-invoice profile in
IRP and then enable e-invoicing in Tally Prime.
On IRP, create an e-Invoice
Profile
To begin with e-invoicing, you must first
register your company on IRP and then create
an API user profile with Tally India Pvt Ltd as
your GSP.
Register with IRP
1. Navigate to the IRP home page and select
Registration > Portal Login.
2. In the following e-Invoice Registration Form,
enter your company’s GSTIN, followed by the
CAPTCHA code, and click Go.
3. Enter the necessary business information and
click Send OTP to validate the information.
4. Enter the code that was sent to your
registered mobile number and then click
Verify OTP.
Following the verification of the OTP, you will be
prompted to enter a username and password to
create your login credentials. Confirm and save
the information.
Make an API User Profile
1. Navigate to the IRP main page and click Login.
2. Log in using the username and password you
set up before.
3. Select API Registration > User Credentials >
Create API User from the menu.
4. In the subsequent API Registration page,
select Through GSP.
5. In the Select your GSP field, type Tally (India)
Private Ltd.
6. Enter the API login and password, then click
Submit to preserve the information. Tally
(India) Private Ltd would be the GSP for the
creation of a user profile.
In Tally Prime, enable e-
invoicing
1. Set Enable Goods and Services (GST) to Yes
by pressing F11. The Company GST Details
window appears.
2. Set the e-Invoicing relevant option to Yes.
The following e-invoicing options will now be
visible:
3. Applicable from – Select the date when your
transactions will be eligible for e-invoicing.
4. Bill from location – Specify the location from
which your supplies will be billed. Depending
on your business, this could be the same or a
different place from where your supplies are
sent from.
5. e-Invoice report default timeframe – Set the
time frame for which the transactions in the e-
Invoice report will be displayed. This will be set to
three days by default, in accordance with
department requirements, which require e-
invoices to be created within 72 hours after billing.
Tally Prime, on the other hand, will allow you to
specify a period between 1 and 31 days,
depending on your business needs.
6. Send e-Way Bill information together with an e-
Invoice – Tally Prime allows you to generate your e-
Way Bill in addition to your e-invoice. If it would be
advantageous for your company to communicate
these details jointly, you can enable this option.
7. Send Accept the screen as is. As always,
you can save the details by using Ctrl+A.
ISO Currency Code should
be updated (For Exporters)
If your company exports, you must update the
ISO currency codes for all of your foreign
currencies. The department requires the
currency code in order to identify the currency
and the related rate of exchange.
1. Tally Gateway > Alter > Currency > Enter.
Alternately, use Alt+G (Go To) to navigate to
Alter Master > Currency > Enter.
2. Choose a foreign currency (for example,
the US Dollar ($)). If necessary, you can also
create a currency here.
3. To open the List of Currency, select the
Formal name and press Alt+H.
4. Choose the appropriate Currency Code
from the list. The ISO Currency Code field will
be updated to reflect this.
5. Update any other details as needed, then
accept the screen. As always, you can save
the details by using Ctrl+A.
e-invoicing over the
Internet
Tally Prime is an online e-invoicing solution that
integrates seamlessly with your existing invoicing
process. Tally Prime’s e-invoicing is not limited to
a single voucher type. Tally Prime enables e-
invoicing for POS, debit notes, and credit notes in
addition to traditional sales invoices.
Whatever method you use to record your supply
in Tally Prime, you can simply generate an IRN
when saving your invoice and printing the QR
code and other details. If you later decide to
change the contents of your transaction, you can
easily cancel the current IRN and obtain a new
IRN for your amended invoice. This will verify that
the information in your e-invoice is correct.
Tally Prime additionally gives you the option of
creating numerous e-invoices at the same
time. You can generate the e-invoice later
from the e-Invoice report. Furthermore, you
can generate the e-Way Bill alongside your e-
invoice using Tally Prime, or you can generate
the e-Way Bill without the e-invoice if
necessary.
