A teacher is the most critical component of a school that can make or break a student’s
future. Especially in the formative years, primary school teachers have a greater

● The teacher must have a degree in a particular subject, especially if it is a subject
teacher.
● The class teacher must have a Bachelor Degree in Education or equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution.
● The subject teacher Bachelor Degree in the relevant subject or equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution
Registration
When the teacher receives the initial appointment, they need to register on the Educator
Permit System.
To complete the registration, a teacher must meet the requirements of:

● Teacher Preparation Qualification
● Additional Qualification Requirements
● Language Proficiency

● Fitness to Teach

The subject qualification required for teacher registration is the same as the degree
required for the Initial Appointment.

Teacher Preparation Qualification
The teacher applying for the position must have a teacher preparation qualification at the
level of a higher diploma or above. The topics that this diploma programme must cover

● Curriculum Development and Design
● Learning Assessment
● Classroom Management
● Educational Technology
● Psychology (cognitive, social and physical development)
● Teaching Practice
A teacher teaching a vocational education programme must have a recognised assessor or
verifier qualification.
Language Proficiency
A teacher teaching English Language as a subject must additionally qualify for teaching the
English Language as a second or foreign language (e.g. CELTA, DELTA, TESOL).
● A teacher who teaches the English Language as a subject should have an IELTS Band
Score of minimum seven or equivalent. (Should be an IELTS “GOOD USER”)
● A teacher using English as a language of instruction only should have an IELTS Band
Score or six minimum or equivalent. (Should be an IELTS “COMPETENT USER”)
A teacher teaching a language other than English must have evidence of language
proficiency as specified by appropriate authorities and curricula.
Apart from the educational requirements, a teacher looking to apply for primary school
teaching jobs in Dubai must have the following documents:
● A valid UAE Residence Visa
● A school contract or employment agreement
● A declaration of fitness to practice the teaching profession
● UAE Police Clearance Certificate
● A Letter from the school confirming the teacher is in good standing
International teachers who haven’t resided in the UAE for the last five years should
produce
a police clearance certificate from each country of residence.
Apart from these essential qualifications, the teacher must show an active passion in the
profession of teaching.
