The market has a lot of products and there are flavoured and unflavoured
options. In terms of taste, it depends on your preference. You can opt for
flavoured options such as chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, etc. or you can go
for the simple unflavoured option. In terms of ingredients, flavoured
options have more additives in them. Examples of additives are:
1. Artificial sweeteners – sucralose, Ace-K, etc. (They are also known as INS
955, INS 950 respectively).
2. Artificial coloring agents
3. Emulsifiers and Thickeners
4. Fillers (used to increase mass of the product and cut costs)
Whey protein is derived from milk and if you are lactose intolerant
then do be careful before starting a product. Do check the lactose
content in it. Also, some products contain soy, and people with soy
allergy need to be careful. There are many options like rice, pea,
quinoa, plant-based proteins in the market. Don’t just rely on
supplements but also have a diet rich in protein.
Always buy from an authorized site or dealer and do check the
authenticity of the product. You can also check the packaging, the tags,
the bar code, etc. for better clarity. There are many fake products in the
market and you need to be careful to buy from the original sites or
dealers. Whey protein is of three types – whey concentrate (60-70%
protein), isolate (90% protein), and whey hydrolysate (pre-digestable
form of protein).
