MTech in IoT Program Overview
The Internet of things (IoT) describes physical objects (or groups of such objects) with
sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange
data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks.
Internet of things has been considered a misnomer because devices do not need to be
connected to the public internet, they only need to be connected to a network and be
individually addressable.
In the consumer market, IoT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the
concept of the “smart home”, including devices and appliances (such as lighting fixtures,
thermostats, home security systems, cameras, and other home appliances) that support one
or more common ecosystems, and can be controlled via devices associated with that
ecosystem, such as smartphones and smart speakers. IoT is also used in healthcare
systems.
MTech Cyber Security Course Overview
Computer Security, (cyber security), or Information Technology security (IT security) is the
protection of computer systems and networks from information disclosure, theft of, or
damage to their hardware, software, or electronic data, as well as from the disruption or
misdirection of the services they provide.
The field has become of significance due to the expanded reliance on computer systems, the
Internet, and wireless network standards such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and due to the growth
of smart devices, including smartphones, televisions, and the various devices that constitute
the Internet of things (IoT).
Cybersecurity is also one of the significant challenges in the contemporary world, due to the
complexity of information systems, both in terms of political usage and technology. Its
primary goal is to ensure the system’s dependability, integrity, and data privacy.
