Looking for the Best Animation Course After 12th
Looking for the Best Animation Course After 12th?
As an animation professor with over two
decades of experience in the creative industry,
I’ve had the opportunity to guide countless
students as they step into the world of design,
storytelling, and digital art. One question I
receive almost every year from students and
their parents is simple yet important: is
animation a good career choice after 12th?
And my answer is always yes—if pursued with
the right mindset and at the right place,
animation can open doors to a future full of
creative opportunities and global recognition.

Why Animation is a Smart Career Move After 12th
In today’s fast-evolving digital world, animation is
everywhere—from entertainment platforms like
Netflix and gaming consoles to advertising, e-
learning, and even social media content. According
to a recent Statista report, the Indian animation
and VFX industry is expected to surpass ₹300 billion
by 2026, growing at a steady rate every year. But
the magic of animation isn’t just in the numbers. It
lies in the ability to breathe life into ideas, to tell
stories without words, and to build worlds from
imagination. If you’re someone who loves
sketching, ideating, gaming, visual storytelling, or
simply imagining things differently, animation gives
you the tools to express your thoughts in motion.
What a Good Animation Course Should Really Offer
Having seen both students and curriculum evolve
over the years, I can tell you that a great
animation course must go beyond just teaching
software. It should provide a foundation in animation
principles, colour theory, human anatomy, and
design thinking while helping students build technical
expertise in tools like Adobe Animate, After Effects,
Blender, or Autodesk Maya. However, practical
learning is equally important. You should be spending
hours on project work, creating characters, designing
frames, and experimenting with motion, rather than
just watching presentations or lectures.
Understanding the Different Types of Animation Courses After 12th
Students often ask me whether they should go
for a certificate, diploma, or degree course. The
answer depends on your goals. Certificate
courses, which last a few months, are useful for
learning specific skills like storyboarding or
motion graphics. Diploma programs, usually one
to two years long, are more comprehensive and
ideal for those who want a practical route to
enter the job market quickly. Degree courses
like a B.Sc. in Animation usually span three
years and provide a deep dive into all aspects of
animation including 2D, 3D, VFX, and game
design. In cities like Pune, students have access
to all these formats, but the quality of learning
depends on how well-rounded and immersive
the program is.
