GOOGLE NEW UPDATES (2024)...

GOOGLE NEW UPDATES (2024)... SHIKSHITA CHAUDHARY PENGUIN In 2012, Google officially launched the “webspam algorithm update,” which specifically targeted link spam and manipulative link-building practices. The webspam algorithm later became known (officially) as the Penguin algorithm update via a tweet from Matt Cutts, who was then head of the Google webspam team. While Google officially named the algorithm Penguin, there is no official word on where this name came from. GOOGLE FLORIDA In the early 2000s, when Google announced an update, it usually meant a significant change in the search results. Google’s Florida Update in 2003 was significant. In fact, it was the first major Google algorithm update in what would become a decade filled with huge updates. This article discusses what the Florida Update probably was and why it still matters today. GOOGLE EDM (EXACT MATCH DOMAIN) The EMD, or Exact Match Domain update, was a 2012 Google algorithm update that targeted exactly what it is named: exact match domain names. The intent behind this update was not to target exact match domain names exclusively, but to target sites with the following combination of spammy tactics: exact match domains that were also poor quality sites with thin content. GOOGLE PIGEON One of Google’s biggest-impact algorithm updates was implemented for the sake of local search results, and local businesses typically saw the effects of the update in their website’s analytics data. Google users certainly saw the impact, too, and that typically meant a different, and eventually better, search experience in terms of local businesses and the information pertaining to those businesses. GOOGLE PAYDAY In 2013, the major algorithm update that had everyone talking was the Payday Loan Update. This update was significant and impacted approximately 0.3 percent of queries in the U.S. At the time, Matt Cutts, head of Google’s webspam team, was attributed to saying that the impact was as high as 4 percent for Turkish queries. The reasoning behind this is because those types of queries have more spam associated with them. GOOGLE FRED March 8, 2017, was a day that started out like any other… You were sat at your desk, casually sipping your first cup of coffee and catching up with the search news here on Search Engine Journal, or perhaps scrolling through your Facebook feed, when it hit you GOOGLE’S QUALITY UPDATE May 3, 2015, it happened again. Google quietly launched an update – now popularly known as the “Quality Update,” though in truth it has no official name. It struck fear into the hearts of many webmasters, digital marketers, and SEO professionals. You can go to bed one night, cozy in the knowledge that you have supreme visibility in the search results… …Only to wake up the next morning and discover your rankings have been obliterated. GOOGLE RANKBRAIN It is not an exaggeration to state that Google RankBrain was a revolution in how search results are determined. In 1996 the idea of links as a ranking signal, revolutionized search with what would become Google PageRank.
