Guidelines for Toys Manufacturers for BIS License

GUIDELINES FOWRW TWO.SYISG M MAATNEUSFTA.OCRTUGRER’S FOR BIS LICENSE CATEGORY A — TOYS FOR SENSORIMOTOR ACTIVITIES — FIRST AGE As per new guidelines, all the toy manufacturers are required to obtain license from BIS in order to sell their products in market. Since more than 1 Indian Standard may be applicable on each toy, it has been decided to make the application process simpler. Toys have been classified into following 2 types for the purpose of BIS certification: Electrical (IS 15644:2006) and Non-electrical (IS 9873 (Part 1):2019). Manufacturers while applying for a license, may choose one of the applicable primary standards based on the type of toy for which license is required. If license is required for more than one type of toy (i.e. non-electric and electric), separate applications shall be made for each type. Further, based on their specific purpose and function, toys have also been classified into 7 Categories and 146 sub-categories. For the purpose of certification, all the models of toys of similar designs, made from the same materials and covered under a single sub-category, shall be considered as a series. In this presentation, we are explaining the first category i.e., Toys for sensorimotor activities — First age. It categorizes the toys as per the age criteria.
