important  sources of Amethyst. Brazil is a major supplier in the world. In Brazil, 
the  Amethyst stone has a lighter color than it is found in other countries. The 
other  major source is Anahi mine in Bolivia was discovered by a Spanish 
Conquistador  in the 1600s and then it got lost in History. It was rediscovered in 
the 1960s.
In the African continent, Zambia’s Kariba mine is found to be best in quality and 
 rich in colors.
In the United States, the Mazatzal mountains produce dark purple and purplish  
red Amethyst crystals.
