VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES
IISM Students @ FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 QATAR
As Walt Disney rightly said, “All  
our dreams can come true if we  
have the courage to pursue  
them.” And our students have  
always been determined to  
follow the suit.
This is exceptionally seen well in 
 their quest for knowledge, as 
the  students from IISM did not 
back  out of their dream 
opportunity  to intern at the 
FIFA World Cup
Qatar 2022. This is the perfect venue for the students to work and understand what goes behind  
organising an event of such magnitude, as FIFA is the biggest football event in the world.
The students worked as 'Project Coordinators' in various departments across the event. These  
departments included; Airport, Cruise, Transport, Stadium Ushers and Tour Operations. The  
students were immensely applauded for their work in their respective departments.
The opportunity to work at an event of such a scale has taught our students the quintessential  
fundamentals. Special thanks to Cutting Edge Events Pvt Ltd. for assisting our students with 
securing  this internship.
Such types of International Learning Exposures help our students prepare better for the  
forthcoming challenges in the field of sports management.

IISM Students @FIFA U17 WORLD CUP
FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup concluded on a high note with  
Spain winning the World Cup. It was Spain's second victory and  
India's first time organising the tournament.
IISM students made the most  
of this opportunity to learn 
the  nitti-gritty of managing 
an  event of such a repute. 
The  students played crucial 
roles in  the smooth execution 
of the  tournament. It was a 
month
long event work where the students worked/volunteered at all  
the three venues - Navi Mumbai, Goa and Bhubaneswar.
They were a part of multiple departments that enabled smooth  
operation of the event & helped in athlete management. The
students also assisted the security team at the entry and exit gates while engaging with the fans 
in  the fan engagement area.
Such assignments help our students develop networks and make them industry ready.
IISM Students @ SKECHERS WALKATHON
The Skechers Mumbai Walkathon 2022 was a  
captivating event where many prominent  
celebrities came onto the stage and shared  
their thoughts about the event. IISM students  
played a pivotal role in the grand success of 
the  event.
T h e   s t u d e n t s   w o r k e d   i n   n u m e r 
o u s  departments under the 3km, 5km and 
10km
walkathon categories and outperformed the expectations of the organisers. Getting 
opportunities  to work at events of such repute and on-field exposure from a young age helps 
them understand the  management aspects of the sporting world. 4

IISM Students @YUVA KABADDI MONSOON EDITION 2022
The second biggest sporting IP in kabaddi 'Yuva 
Kabaddi  Series Monsoon Edition' was well received by 
the public.  The league had 10 teams participating in 
the 40- day-  long tournament and it was a spectacular 
event, to say  the least.
To ensure the smooth functioning of the teams, nine  
students from IISM got appointed as the 'Team  
Managers' for nine teams. The students travelled to  
Ranchi and stayed with their team till the end of the
team's journey. Our students were the direct point of contact between the players, coaches and  
organisers. They were in constant touch with the players and coaches and also oversaw the 
team's  warm-up and cool-down sessions. They prepared the players for the pre-match and post-
match  sessions and also made sure the players were well-equipped.
Students learnt the principles of managing a sports team. It is a role that is highly valued in  
professional leagues. This learning will definitely help shape students' careers as they embody 
the  necessary skills to set foot in the sporting sector.
IISM Students @YUVA KABADDI SERIES WINTER EDITION
Our PGPSM students were presented with an incredible  
opportunity to volunteer at the Yuva Kabaddi Series  
Winter Edition 2022, at Pondicherry and they were  
thrilled about it. The students travelled to Pondicherry  
for the tournament and will be with the team till it  
concludes.
The students will be working as 'Team Managers' during 
 the entire 40-day event. They are the direct point of  
contact between the players, coaches and organisers.
Working as 'Team Manager' in the second biggest sporting IP in Kabaddi will help them 
understand  the true essence of working as a sports management professional in an event of such 
repute.
Practical knowledge is the best way of learning in sports and seeing these students learning,  
exploring and growing on the field fills our hearts with delight and glory.

IISM Students @ 2022 NATIONAL GAMES OF INDIA
The 2022 National Games of India ended on a  
high note with Services winning 61 Gold, 35  
Silver and 32 Bronze Medals and this is their 
4th  consecutive win. They are the winners of 
the  Raja Bhalindra Singh Trophy, which is 
presented  to the overall champions. 
Maharashtra bagged  the Indian Olympic 
Association's Best State  trophy for finishing 
second with the most gold  medals among 
States and Union Territories.
However, organising an event of such  
magnitude is no ordinary feat and it is with great pride we say that IISM students played a key role 
in  organising and executing the National Games. IISM students worked under the Games 
Management  System (GMS) and with professionals from the Games Technical Conduct Committee 
(GTCC),  Accommodation Catering and Transport (ACT) team, Accreditation team, Grievance, 
Website, Digital  Scoring and Volunteer Management departments.
The students were praised for their hard work 
and their thirst to learn more about how to manage an  event. Special thanks to Sports For All 
(SFA) for giving the students this incredible opportunity.
IISM Students @ THE 3RD T20 
BETWEEN INDIA & SOUTH AFRICA
T
he India vs. South Africa T20 Series was an  
eye-catching series and our Men in Blue were  
phenomenal during the entire series. Team  
India's win will forever be etched in our  
memories. While everyone enjoyed the  
matches and prayed for our Men in Blue to 
win,  our students volunteered at the third 
T20  match in Indore.
The students oversaw various integral 
activities  such as supervising the vendors and managing certain aspects such as managing the 
stadium,  VVIPs, infrastructure, securities and CCTV operations. They did their duties exceedingly 
well and  also were appreciated for their work as Assistant Branding Managers and Heads of the 
post-match  press conferences. 6
We encourage our students to take up such 
opportunities as it will help them understand the efforts  that get put into organising an event of 
such volume.

IISM Students @ ROAD SAFETY WEEK
The 2022 Road Safety World Series was the  
second season of the International T20 Cricket  
League, featuring former internati onal  
cricketers to raise awareness about road 
safety.
To give our students an understanding of the  
work that goes behind organizing an event of  
such enormity, IISM sent a few students to  
volunteer in the series. The tournament was
held across four venues; Kanpur, Indore, Dehradun and Raipur. The students were involved in the  
duties of Cricket Operations Manager and were nodded for their efforts.
During the series, students learned about crisis management, venue operations and player  
management. Events like these help the students understand the potential of the sector and the  
opportunities that await.

PROUD WINNERS OF IISM
SAACHI GRAMOPADHYE
MSM student Ms. Saachi Gramopadhye has tasted many  
victories over the years in paddle racing. She yet again 
proved  herself to be the best during the 2nd National 
Finswimming  Championship Pune - 2022 and the Life Saving 
games 2022,  Pune.
She won a gold medal in the 200m Monofin Swin and three  
silver medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m Bifins Swim 
events  under the Finswimming events. Under the life-saving 
event,  she has won 3 gold medals in 100m Mannequin carry 
with  fins, 100 m Mannequin tow with fins and 100 m 
obstacles  swim.
May she continue to win more medals.
COLLIDE by Viral Fission
Another significant fest that our students aced at was the  
'COLLIDE by Viral Fission', an inter-college fest specifically 
geared  towards Gen Z and Pan-Indian colleges from Tier 1, Tier 
2 and Tier  3 cities.
The fest saw students from over 150 colleges participating in  
various games. The Contingent Leader from IISM was Mr. 
Atharva  Loya. By the end, IISM ranked 5th on the Leader Board 
with the  Box Cricket Team and the Street Football Girls Team 
finishing  runners-up. The Box Cricket Team was felicitated by 
the Mumbai  Indians and was presented with their merchandise 
and so was  the Street Football Girls Team by Mumbai FC.
It is by participating in such events, that students know that it is  
only by sheer will and dedication that they will be able to 
surpass  their competition.

PROUD WINNERS OF IISM
GAYATRI SURYAWANSHI
Ms. Gayatri Suryawanshi, our MSM-1 student is an avid 
fencer  and has been into fencing for a long time. She got an 
incredible  opportunity to showcase her exceptional skills in 
Fencing  during the University of Mumbai Inter Zonal 
tournament. She  won a Bronze medal in Fencing. She 
represented Zone II and  she got selected for the All India 
University Games and will be  representing the University of 
Mumbai.
Earlier, Gayatri had to miss her exams to participate in the  
Intercollegiate Fencing Tournament 2022-23, wherein she  
also secured a bronze medal. This showcases her passion and 
 commitment towards the game.
We are delighted to see her win so many medals. Wishing 
her  lots of luck in all her future endeavours.
KAUSHIK PANDEY
Everyone has the will to win. But very few have the will 
to  prepare to win. And our SYBSM student Mr. Kaushik  
Pandey has always prepared well to ace Archery. 
Kaushik
won two silver medals in the 12th FAAM's Maharashtra  
State Field-Indoor Archery Championship 2022-23.
Kaushik is a professional archer and has been in archery 
 for the past one and a half years. He has won a silver  
medal for Individual Score and another one for the 
team  in the 'Mix Spot' category by participating in the 
'Senior'  category. Now he is eyeing the National Indoor 
Archery  Competition and other national-level 
tournaments.

PROUD WINNERS OF IISM
DHRITI HATI
Becoming a Taekwondo Master is the dream of our FYBSM  
student Ms. Dhriti Hati. And she has never shied away 
from  taking any opportunity to showcase her prowess 
in  Taekwondo. Dhriti participated in the Featherweight  
Category (53-57 kg) at the Inter-Collegiate Taekwondo  
Tournament 2022-23 and won a Gold Medal.
Despite the tissue tear in her left knee, she defeated three  
fellow opponents. Following her win, Dhriti represented 
the  University of Mumbai at the Inter-Zonal Taekwondo 
 Women's Tournament 2022-23 and won a Silver Medal.  
Wishing her all the best for her future matches.
ISHAN SENGUPTA
Rowing is something that our SYBSM student Mr. Ishan Sengupta, is 
very  passionate about and holds very close to his heart. He is a 
professional  rower and has also won made a name for himself in 
numerous events.
Ishan got the perfect opportunity to flaunt his skills in rowing during 
two  major rowing events. He aced both events and won gold medals 
in them  both.
He won the first medal in The Rising Sun Water Fest, conducted by the  
Eastern Command Indian Army in Shillong and the second in the  
National Indoor Rowing Championships, led by the Rowing Federation 
of  India in Chandigarh. Ishaan won the medals by participating in the  
Senior Men's category.
Wishing him the very best. Hope he continues to win more medals 
thus  reaching greater heights in pursuing his passion.

PROUD WINNERS OF IISM
AAKRIDH22
IISM students are always thrilled to participate in sporting  
fests. The students participated in AAKRIDH'22, an Inter-  
Collegiate Fest, organized by Lords Universal College of Law  
under various categories and won medals and trophies.
Students from over 25 Colleges across Mumbai participated 
in  the fest and team IISM finished as the 'Overall Best 
College of  AAKRIDH'22'. IISM's Cricket Team ended up in the 
'Runners-  up' position. Apart from this incredible 
achievement, our  students also won in numerous other 
sports.
Mr. Saumil Nair, Mr. Rushabh Shah and Mr. Adesh Satsangi  
were winners of the 'Chess competition the 'Highest  
Goalscorer award in FIFA' and the 'Most Clean Sheets in FIFA'  
respectively. Mr. Hrishi Sinkar won the 'Best Contingent  
Leader' award.
IISM students are looking forward to participate in many such 
 fests in the future and we are sure that they will make all of 
us  proud.
AVISHKAR KOLAMBE
Heartiest congratulations to our SYBSM student Mr. 
Avishkar  Kolambe, for bagging 1st place at NEB Sports 
Entertainment  Pvt. Ltd. in the 12-Hour Stadium Relay Run, 
with a good lead  of 140+ kms in 12 hours.
Organised by NEB Sports, Stadium Runs not only help  
aspiring Marathoners progress to become Ultra Runners 
but  also double up as Qualifiers for International Ultra 
Races.
We are all extremely proud of Avishkar's achievement and  
may he keep soaring and continue to win like this.

JEET
JEET is IISM's intra-college sports fest, organised by the students of 
IISM  for the students of IISM. In JEET, players from our college's team;  
Panthers, Bulls, Rhino, Eagles and Sharks, compete against one 
another.  The matches and the events are all organised by 
representatives of the  'Sports Cell.'
As a part of this semester's JEET initiative, the representatives of the  
'Sports Cell' conducted a football match named 'FUTSAL Competition'.  
The football matches were conducted at the Prabodhankar Thackeray
Krida Sankul at Vile Parle. It was an interesting match, as the final was between two segments of 
the  same team: Eagles 1 & Eagles 2. The champions of the FUTSAL Competition were Eagles 2 
and the  final scoreboard read 2-1.
The students had a blast as it was a way for them to vent off some steam before their end-
semester  exams.

GARBA EVENING @ IISM
In order to get into the festival spirits of Navratri, students organised a spectacular 'Garba 
Evening'  at the campus. Since we have several outstation students studying at our institute, the 
Garba  event at the campus helped the students celebrate one of their favourite festivities 
despite of  being away from home.
The students got together and taught the outstation students some signature Navratri dance  
moves. These moves got them into the grooves of the festive season leading them to have a

SPORTS QUIZ @ IISM
As a part of IISM's intra-college sports fest- JEET, which is a student initiative, a Sports Quiz was  
conducted at the campus by the Quizmaster; Mr. Milind Wagle. Mr. Wagle is a famous sports  
commentator with decades of experience in the sports industry.
The students were caught off-guard by his questions pertaining to the world of sports, as some of 
the  questions were brain-racking. The winners of the first round of the Sports Quiz were the Bulls 
1 and  the Eagles 1. However, round two was won by the Sharks 2, the Panthers 2 and the Bulls 2. 
The  Panthers 2 emerged as the winners in the finale by a substantial margin.
Founder Director Mr. Nilesh Kulkarni who was also present for the Finale thanked Mr. Milind Wagle 
 and presented him with a memento.

BOLLYWOOD DAY @ IISM
Students from 'The Student Life Cell' had organised 'Bollywood Day' at the IISM campus, on 
account  of Children's Day.
The event saw students dressing up as their favourite characters from various Bollywood movies.  
The students also enacted a few famous scenes of their characters and ended the day by dancing 
to  a few dance numbers.

PRACTICAL SESSIONS AT  
SPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA
Learning science means getting out of the  
classroom and learning from practicals. And giving 
 our children the best practical sessions at leading  
sports science centres is all we had in mind when  
we launched our UG & PG degree programs in  
sports science.
Our Master of Sports Science students visited the  
Sports Authority of India (SAI), National Center of  
Excellence in Mumbai for practical sessions. These 
 practical sessions were conducted under the 
expert  guidance of Dr. Pralay Mazumdar, Head of 
Sports  Science at SAI and the athletes.
As the sessions were conducted in the presence of 
 athletes, it helped the students understand the  
real-time effects of the practicals.

MASTER CLASS SESSIONS
Mr. Tenzing Niyogi
CEO of Ultimate Kho-Kho
Mr. Tenzing Niyogi, visited the campus for a Master Class Session. It was under the leadership of 
 Mr. Niyogi that Ultimate Kho- Kho came into the limelight.
Mr. Niyogi talked at length about how the Ultimate Kho-Kho league in India has gained so much  
attention after the launch of its first season itself. Mr. Niyogi discussed the challenges they faced 
 while organising Ultimate Kho-Kho, the lessons they learnt and how some events took the 
entire  team by surprise. Mr. Niyogi also shared his views on how their team is planning to make 
Ultimate  Kho-Kho bigger and better from the forthcoming season onwards.
Mr. Niyogi answered the questions posed by the students. The answers helped the students get 
a  clearer picture of the hard work that goes behind organising an event of such magnitude.

Mr. Niteen Shah, Promoter and MD of Total 
Sports  & Fitness came to the IISM campus for a Master 
sCelasssison to impart his wisdom about the changing 
 dynamics of the sports retail industry.
During the Master Class, Mr. Shah explained his  
journey of establishing Total Sports & Fitness and 
the  challenges he faced during this time. The sports 
retail  industry has seen massive growth and Mr. 
Shah  explained the key roles a sports 
management  professional plays in taking this 
industry to new heights.
Mr. Kyan Bharucha, Founder of Bayside Sports, a
company specialising in organising cricket and football 
 events and provides high-quality coaching for children.
Mr. Bharucha started the Master Class by giving the  
students a brief about his company and how Bayside  
Sports cater to the sporting needs of individuals from all 
 age groups. Mr. Bharucha talked about how his vision 
of  getting moms and dads to play sports helped them 
expand  their business.
Since it was an interactive session, Mr. Bharucha answered the questions posed by 
the  students about the career aspects and growth one can expect in the sports 
industry.

Mr. Venkatraman Pichumani,
The Founder of YouTooCanRun, conducted
a Master Class Session for the TYBSM and
MSM-2 students. During the Master Class, 
 Mr. Pichumani explained what is project  
management, the things a project 
manager  should be on the lookout for 
when  organising a sports event and how 
crucial  it is for budding sports 
management  professionals to be well-
versed with the  concept of project 
management.
Mr. Anurag Khurana, Founder and CEO of Penta Esports,
visited the IISM campus for a Master Class  
Session. Penta Esports is India's leading  
esports gaming platform which organizes the 
 biggest Esports leagues & tournaments in  
the country.
During the interactive Master Class Session,  
Mr. Khurana shared some insights about the 
 evolution of the esports industry.
Mr. Khurana also gave the students some tips on how they can make 
 a successful career in this ever-evolving field.
